Firefighter of the Year Award

The Firefighter of the Year Award is presented each year at the Appreciation Banquet held in March. Members of Barlow Volunteer Fire Company including the auxiliary may submit the name of any Active Member whom they feel should be considered for this award to the "Firefighter of the Year Award Committee" in writing stating their reasons for consideration. The nominees are judged on participation in activities (meetings, emergencies, drills/training, fund raising projects, work details, etc), job performance (on the emergency scene, station duties, drill duties), job knowledge, personal relationships and personal traits. The "Firefighter of the Year Award Committee (consists of the last three living recipients of the Award) carefully study each name and resume submitted verifying all information and will make the final decision of the nominees whom closest exemplifies the qualities listed above. The Firefighter of the Year Award remains a secret until the actual presentation of the Award at the Appreciation Banquet.
