Tour Bus Fire
Route 15
February 26, 2011
Saturday the 26th Barlow Fire Dept. was having a Sportmans' drawing, the fundraiser was in full swing when they along with Greenmount Fire Department were dispatched for a Tour Bus fire on U.S. 15 South bound at Mile-Marker 4.6. Rescue 22 (6 personnel) upon responding Adams Co. dispatch advised all passengers were off the bus and was the first on scene and advised they had a working fire and went to work.
Engine 22-1 (4 personnel) was second on scene and assisted the crew off of the Rescue and supplied water to the Rescue. The Southbound lane from RT. 134 to the Pa/Md line was closed for 3 hours so fire suppression and clean up could be done. In the early stages of the call an Ambulance from Gettysburg along with Medic 28 was dispatched for a subject from the bus with chest pains after being checked out by EMS that person declined transport to the hospital. Due to the temperatures and the length of time for a second bus from the bus company to arrive Ambulance 1a and Service 23 (Greenmount) started taking passengers back to Greenmounts Station for shelter. Once the fire was called out all fire units for the exception of Rescue 22 were placed in service. Rescue 22 held 4 of the personnel with them and returned the rest to get back to the feed.
Units on scene other then Barlow was Engine-Tanker 23 (Greenmount), 1a (Gettysburg) and Medic 28. Once again there were many Fire Police from 22, 23, 1, 20, 14 and 19. Traffic units from 1, 20 and 14, we would to send out a big thank you to all the Fire Police for a job well done on both nights.
